Jack's favourite place was Linford Wood, an ancient piece of woodland near his home. He knew it so well that he was asked to teach local forestry workers about the wood on a regular basis.
At some point in the late 1980's Jack had the idea of doing some carving into one of the trees in the wood. This grew into a hobby that lasted twenty five years. His work became locally famous and was enjoyed by thousands of people.
