Jack moved on from bottle and fossil digging to an interest in all things Roman. He started metal detecting and looking for Roman remains on old pieces of land associated with the Roman occupation. He found all kinds of things, coins, brooch pins, arrow heads and a Roman sandal. He was also instrumental in the discovery of a Roman Mausoleum in the local area.
